We had a great meeting with James Scott, Executive Director of the TerraCycle Thai Foundation, and his dedicated team at their canal cleanup facility in Bangkok.
At Corsair, we applaud the work they do every day to remove waste from the city’s waterways. We have now begun discussions on how Corsair can support these efforts, including receiving plastic collected by the Foundation for use in our advanced recycling operations.
During the visit, Corsair CEO Jussi Veikko Saloranta and Piyawan Chaitaweep, Head of Sustainability at Corsair Group, also rolled up their sleeves and helped collect waste from the canal. Taking part gave us a firsthand appreciation of the effort and dedication behind this daily work.
Plastic bags, bottles and food packaging discarded in canals can travel downstream into rivers and eventually the ocean. Stopping this waste in the canals helps protect local waterways and marine life, while recovering plastic before it disperses or breaks down into smaller fragments that are much harder to collect.
A big thank you to James and the entire TerraCycle Foundation team for welcoming us and for the important work you do. We look forward to officially launching a collaboration and working together to help clean up Bangkok’s canals.
