Advanced recycling of plastic waste to begin in Finland

Corsair, in collaboration with its local Finnish partners and team, is developing a facility, which will be capable of recycling discarded plastic waste, which currently ends up in landfills or being incinerated, into high quality Corsair Advanced Bio-oil.

Majority of the produced oil is planned to be exported from Finland and will be used by the International Petrochemical Industry, for making new, circular- and more environmentally friendly plastic products.
As with metals, glass and paper – we must also make plastics Circular. This is no longer just a dream – it is now a reality.

Recycling old and discarded plastic waste into Corsairs Advanced Bio-oil, which is made into new plastics, significantly reduces the amount of garbage stored in the environment / being burned in incinerators.
This additionally leads to significant reductions of carbon emissions and reduces the need for traditional fossil oil.

The Kaipola facility will become operation during summer 2023 and is aiming to be fully completed by the end of 2024, after which it is targeting to recycle 12 million kilos of plastic waste per year – equal to the approximate Plastic Waste Footprint of 240,000 people (approx. 50 kilos per year/ person).

The facility is aiming to become a taxpayer and a significant employer in the city of Jämsä, providing job opportunities for the local residents.
Stay tuned for more exciting updates.
